The Destitutes formed in 1993-4 from the remnants of The Coffee Addicts (Mark and Scott) and Smokestack Lightnin' (Scott and Paul). Because Mark switched from Bass to Drums during the reformation auditions introduced Bill to the band. They played the Boston circuit for a few years as a quartet before adding Doug who stayed for about 2 years before moving on to other commitments. In 1998 the band went on a general hiatus playing spot gigs here and there. Recently returning from hiatus Paul announced he would no longer play live shows, but he is still involved with recordings. The Destitutes are currently in the studio and plan a series of shows for their 10-year anniversary playing as a trio. They are best known for closing 3 clubs in Boston.
